Save Poor Lives, an institution that is dedicated to serving people, started in December 2008 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. With a vision to reach out, we have been helping people with surgeries, health related issues, giving scholarship, helping the tribals uplift etc.
Founder Mr S. Balasubramanian, wanted to widen the scope of work beyond health related issues by providing scholarships to children, schools for children in the near future and branched off from his previous endeavour which was again trust that he co-founded and built in serving the community at large.
Health being the primary focus, Save Poor Lives (SPL), will constantly take up issues related to health, with the focus being surgeries and post-operative care. Towards this end, SPL will be collecting funds for patients with special needs. However, these patients will not be selected by SPL directly. Instead, hospitals will have to make their recommendations based on a patient's needs and financial difficulties. SPL will then assess and identify the well deserving patients. After this, advertisements will be made in leading newspapers such as ‘The Hindu’, etc. to raise funds. In addition to this, appeals are sent to regular donors. Funds collected for the project are then consolidated and sent across to the hospitals. Surplus funds raised out of the project will be used for post-operative care and other issues.
We also provide assistance to the general public during major calamities such as Flood, Covid-2019 etc.

Our mission is to inspire breakthrough innovations in the way the world treats children and people in general who are in need of help and support, and to achieve immediate and lasting changes in their lives. We have signed an M.O.U. with NAWA (NILGIRI ADIVASI WELFARE ASSOCIATION) and we help them by providing clean linen, mattresses, etc. for their hospitals in Nilgiris. We help in raising funds for the senior citizen home run by them.
